What is happening to WebINK?
We have made the difficult decision to retire our WebINK solution on June 30, 2015. This is one of those business decisions that we do not take lightly. When we began with WebINK, there were very few ways to legally acquire fonts for use on the web. Now, years later, fonts are directly available to self-host from a multitude of type foundries, as well as from other quality services from our partners at Adobe Typekit and Google Fonts. In the end, closing the doors on WebINK is the right decision for the market.
When will WebINK retire?
June 30, 2015
Will WebINK continue to serve fonts?
Yes. WebINK will serve fonts to websites through June 30, 2015. We recommend that you make the transition to another font service, or license and self-host the fonts yourself well before the end date.
I want to use the same fonts after June 30, 2015. Where else can I find them?
We’re proud of our foundry partners for WebINK and believe that they provide great, high-quality fonts for your site. See this migration page for details about where you can locate each foundry’s fonts.
My account expires soon; can I renew it?
There is no need to renew. We have automatically extended your subscription end date at no cost to when the service retires on June 30, 2015.
Can I still create a new account?
If I have a free developer account can I still upgrade my account?
No. We are no longer accepting account upgrades. We will still serve fonts to up to 10 IP addresses for projects in development mode.
I have a paid account; can I create and edit new projects?
Yes. You can add new projects, websites and domains, edit existing projects, as well as export new or updated WebINK CSS links. You will still be required to keep your unique visitor traffic within your subscribed limits, and any new projects, websites and domains will still be subject to the June 2015 cessation of services.
What happens if I go beyond my subscribed traffic limits?
If you go above your limits, we won’t cut off font hosting immediately, but we will contact you to negotiate future details.
Can I transfer projects to my clients?
Projects that are in development can be transferred to any existing WebINK customer with a paid subscription.
Can I mock-up projects using the Web Font Plug-in?
Yes. WebINK fonts will remain part of the Web Font Plug-in for Photoshop for the time being, but will likely be removed from Suitcase Fusion in the near future. Google Fonts will remain connected to the web font plug-in.
What is the status of FontDropper?
Because FontDropper was mainly used to test using new WebINK fonts on existing web sites, it is retiring immediately and will no longer be available from the bookmarklet.
